Yes, at this point the weather makes every day feel like just another stay in the house day. The snow has turned to ice so walking through the woods is more like ice skating then hiking.
We did take a trip into town today and ran into friends we haven't seen in awhile. It was actually sweater weather in town. My son went shopping for a prom suit today; at the local thrift shop. The outfit cost him a whole $5.00. This will be his third prom and paying $100.00 plus is not his idea of spending money wisely, luckily, his girlfriend agrees.
The kids are busy doing their thing; working, practicing music, and playing video games. Perfect snowy day activities. School starts back Monday so days will be getting back to busy, busy, busy.
I've enjoyed having some time at home and sleeping in!

Today brings another snowy day. We are promised some sunshine in the next couple days though. I have this week off from school (work) so I guess it's time to dig into doing the taxes, apply for my APEL student loan repayment, study for and take some tests, spend some time practicing my music and spend some time with my children. I told you things don't get too exciting around here.

Even the dogs are taking it easy. From top to bottom: Tipper (Lab/Greyhound), Molly (Bichon Frise) , Harry (dark, Dachshund) and Waffles (light, Dachshund Mix)

Another winter day
Today brought another foot of new snow in the northern mountains of California. Everything is blanketed with white and the sky is dropping snowflake after snowflake. We are promised to have seven feet by the end of the week. No worries though since we really need the water storage.
The beauty of nature is inspiring.
Snowflakes
Out of the bosom of the Air.
Out of the cloud-folds of her garments shaken,
Over the woodlands brown and bare,
Over the harvest-fields forsaken,
Silent and soft and slow
Descends the snow.
Even as our cloudy fancies take
Suddenly shape in some divine expression,
Even as the troubled heart doth make
In the white countenance confession,
The troubled sky reveals
The grief it feels
This is the poem of the air,
Slowly in silent syllables recorded;
This is the secret of despair,
Long in its cloudy bosom hoarded,
Now whispered and revealed
To wood and field.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

First Day Blogging
Well, blogging isn't something I would normally do considering I have sooooo much more to do with my free time. I'm usually working on homework or lesson plans.
The weather outside is cold, wet, and white. We have over a foot of snow on the ground now and expecting more over night. The kids and dogs enjoy it.
By Friday I am really looking forward to the week end. The kids at school get a bit nuts by the end of the week, especially in this kind of weather. I have the next week off and plan on enjoying the time at home as well as catching up with school work.
Those that know me know that family is important. I spend a lot of time 'hanging out' with my kids and husband, either by phone or in person. My daughter, 24 year old, lives in Oregon and goes to Portland University. She is majoring in Biology and works at the zoo doing animal behavioral research. We are very proud of her independence and willingness to try anything at least once.
My 21 year old (son) is married to his high school sweetheart. A great guy and married to a great girl. My 18 year old graduated early but stayed around to wait for his girlfriend to graduate. They will both be off to Davis CA. My 14 year old is still in school and is really enjoying it. Thankfully, all of my children love school and do very well. My husband is a great guy. He has worked hard to do well and take care of our family. He is finally in a job that he will be able to stay in. He is a brilliant computer tech.
I can't say I will be posting on a regular basis and my day to day life isn't all that intriguing but such is life.
Tah-tah for now
